Little Rock Arkansas Celebrates Global Entrepreneur Week

Week of workshops, events set to help small businesses grow

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, ARK — The Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub at Winrock International  supported by a partnership with the Delta Regional Authority,  has organized a series of activities as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week Little Rock beginning Nov. 14. The activities, planned in collaboration with local organizations, are aimed at increasing the potential of small businesses in Arkansas.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is a worldwide effort begun in 2007 by Jonathan Ortmans, president of GEW, Carl Schramm, former president and CEO of the Kauffman Foundation, and Gordon Brown, former prime minister of the United Kingdom. The idea behind the program is to create a global entrepreneurial ecosystem through workshops and initiatives that help start and scale new businesses.

Kim Lane, the Innovation Hub’s Director of Operations and Community Development and Startup City Leader of Global Entrepreneurship Week Little Rock, first contacted GEW headquarters last summer to discuss entrepreneurship in Arkansas and the possibility of taking part in the program. “Arkansas has a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem,” explains Lane. “Global Entrepreneurship Week is a celebration of the power and energy driving that community.”

With a variety of workshops, pitch competitions and networking events, this is a great time for local entrepreneurs to immerse themselves in the tools and training available.  Events for Nov. 14-18, along with venues, include:
